Our third option will be our Restored spots. Do you have a great piece of furniture that just needs a facelift. We will be offering monthly spots to reStore your pieces. Marathon day

Today is going to be a marathon of painting to get ready for the official launch of ReClaimed ReStored on Monday. I have 4 pieces drying, waiting on the next coat or glazing. Last night while my husband watched two horrible movies I distressed and glazed a dresser. It is so pretty I want to keep it for our house but I have no where to put it. Oh well! I am hoping to get another couple pieces done today. We snagged a pretty awesome table and chairs this morning and I may get it primed, not sure. Mountain Dew is for sure my bff today. I have a ton of ideas swirling in my head in terms of the business. For today however it's me, Pandora and the paint brush! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday.

Happy Friday!

This week has been a challenge to say the least. Of all weeks to have so much to do it was my week to work in the salon. You see in my former days before kids I co owned a salon and did hair full time and worked for the hair care company Paul Mitchell. Right before I had my beautiful daughter I felt the call to stay at home with her and to walk away from EVERYTHING I had ever known. I could write a whole blog about that experience as it brought me more happiness than I can express. I will save that for another day. I will just say your children are the only "treasures" you will see in Heaven. Enough of my soap box! So, like I was saying it was my week to work. I work one afternoon a month (do you call that working). For whatever reason it throws our whole week in a tale spin. Of all weeks I have a ton of furniture to get done before Sunday and so little time! I thought we were making progress last night but we had a little set back and had to fill in some old hardware holes again after a piece had been painted. I had thought the piece would be done last night short of a little poly top coat. I guess we will see what today brings. Before Sunday I would like to get a dresser, twin bed, two end tables and possibly another dresser done. In the midst I had the great idea to potty train my 19 month little girl. She is doing great it just seems to be slowing us down!!! On a positive note we potentially have our first custom slot filled, and we are planning on going live with this thing on Monday. I will be posting our facebook page and blog as well as listing 5-6pieces on craigslist. I am so excited.

Frustrated.

That is the theme for today. It started out SO good. My in laws came over with my two awesome niece's and we all had breakfast. They had planned to stay a while to let the girls play with my kids. I quickly decided to capitalize on a little extra paint time. That is where the good morning ended. It's about 95 degrees and 100% humidity. I started spraying a dresser and ran out of paint AGGGGGHHH. Luckily my wonderful in laws were here and I was able to make a quick trip to Lowes. However, the quick trip that turned into a long trip added to the frustration. I somehow ripped off the part of the sticker with the paint's code. So, after waiting forever we had to do a "color match". I have to say I am still nervous about it to say the least. I thought it was over as I pulled in the driveway I saw my beautiful dresser. It is such a beautiful color ( which Lowes has discontinued) all seemed well. But No, it wasn't over. I guess from the humidity the paint had a ton of runs in it. So now it's nap time for my two monkey's and I am at a stand still. I have to wait for the paint to dry to get all of the runs out. So frustrated seems to be the continuing theme. On a side note when my niece got here this morning she asked me if I was having a yard sale! I said "no" she said "sure looks like it"! That was a kick in the butt to get a few things done and move some stuff out.

Welcome!

I have created this blog to archive the journey of our new business. A few months ago I decided to ReStore my mom's dinning room table. It was a standard pine claw foot table. For the folks who now me it really was not my style. Unknowingly that day ReClaimed and ReStored was started. I started reading blogs and surfing the net and feel in love with Restoring old dated furniture to something new and fresh. I love to go thrifting and find new treasures all the time. Before we new it our house started to look like Beverly Hillbillies had moved in. It seems like our whole family has gotten on board. People frequently call me and say they have found something or we drive by something and I beg Matt to stop! Just yesterday we were driving home from church and I saw a great dresser and two mirrors on the curb begging to be taken home. Matt being the AWESOME husband he is agreed to stop knocked on the door and asked was it meant to be taken. We loaded up the drawers so that it would not get taken while we went home to get the other truck. As soon as we got in the door he headed back out to start working on it and ReClaimed it as "his project". I can't wait to see what he does with it. It needs a little TLC but that's what ReClaim ReStore is all about. We hope to ReClaim and ReStore old furniture and make it new just like Jesus Christ has done for us. Our guiding verse is Psalm 23:3 He ReStores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his names sake. Like old unwanted furniture we should have been left on the side of the road or in a musty store with no future. Through Christ our savior we were not. He, through his son ReClaimed us and ReStored us to make us new. I can't wait to see where this adventure take us it has already been a hot sweaty on but Sooooo much fun.
